Installing skins on an Asus laptop

Asus laptops can have complex surface geometry — aggressive venting, sharp corner chamfers on ROG models, and multiple panels on Zephyrus designs. The install sequence matters.

Start with the lid, working from the center outward to avoid trapping air along the edges. The bottom panel comes next — align the vent cutouts before tacking down. Palm rest and trackpad pieces go last, and the trackpad specifically needs a careful edge roll to avoid lifting during daily use.

Room temperature matters. Vinyl is easier to work with at around 70°F — too warm and the material stretches and grabs the adhesive too quickly; too cold and it resists conforming to curves.
