Material guide

Material picks for gaming handhelds

Handhelds are held for hours at a time, so grip matters as much as look. Material choice affects both.

Textured materials are the clear handheld pick — Black Carbon Fiber, Black Honeycomb, Forged Carbon, and Black Matrix all add noticeably better grip than the factory plastic. Longer gaming sessions benefit directly from improved grip.

Matte Black and Brushed Black preserve the gaming aesthetic while transforming the look. Prism and Satin Ocean Shimmer bring color-shift character to the large device back that catches light.

Installation

Installing handheld skins

Handheld sets have multiple pieces — the console body, the grips, sometimes triggers and back buttons. The install guide walks through each piece in sequence.

Start with the largest piece (usually the back) and align using tack points. Work the squeegee outward. Move to the grips next, then any trigger or back-button pieces. Take your time - a full set takes 30–45 minutes for a careful install.

Room temperature around 70°F works best.

Frequently asked about Handheld Gaming Skins

How long does it take to install a handheld skin set?

Most full sets take 30–45 minutes — the console body, grips, and triggers each take their own sequence. The install video for your model walks through every piece. Two sets per order means you have a second if the first install doesn't go as planned.

What if the skin doesn't fit my handheld?

Every template is designed on the actual hardware before release. If something's off, reach out — we'll remake the skin or process a return on unused, non-custom orders. Check the install guide for cutout reference before installing if you're unsure.

Which materials actually help with grip?

Textured materials make the biggest difference — Black Carbon Fiber, Forged Carbon, and Black Honeycomb all noticeably improve grip versus the factory plastic. Smooth materials like Matte Black look great but grip similarly to the original.

Does the skin cover the buttons, joysticks, or trackpads?

No — skins cover the back and grips, leaving buttons, joysticks, and trackpads fully accessible. Cutouts align around every control so the device feels and works exactly as before.

Will the skin work with my handheld's dock?

Yes. Dock contact points and port cutouts are part of each template. Docking and charging work normally with the skin installed.
