Installing your kit on the Nintendo Switch Gen 1

Our designs use a specific install sequence. Watch the videos first — even if you've done this before.

Premium Vinyl Protection
Our 3M 2080 cast vinyl is cut for the Nintendo Switch Gen 1 console body, with the Joy-Con rails and kickstand worked into the cut. We design every Nintendo Switch 1 skin in our Chattanooga workshop, drawn against the actual HAC-001 chassis — the same fit covers the V2 revision since the externals didn't change. Texture finishes like Black Camo and Black Carbon Fiber add a bit of grip where your thumbs sit for long sessions, and the vinyl takes the table-and-dock contact instead of the plastic. Two of each piece in every kit — install one now, save one for a refresh later.

SUPPORT

An install video for every device

Our designs are created with each device's unique installation quirks in mind. Naturally, we film an install video for every device we list. That way you can see exactly what's involved and how it fits from start to finish.

Gaming handhelds are complex installs. We film a video for each handheld showing the install method we designed for the best results. Start with the video before you start with the vinyl.

REMOVABLE

Install now, refresh later

Every kit ships with two copies of your design - one for the install, one to keep for when you want a refresh. So when you're ready for a fresh look down the road, it's already in the box.

Pro Install Kit for pro results

Every order includes the Pro Install Kit - felted plastic squeegee, metal blunt-nosed tweezers, and a plush towel. The same tools professional installers use, in the box every time - not a flimsy cloth.

Takes the wear instead of your device
PROTECTION

Takes the wear instead of your device

Gaming handhelds are made to be handled and to travel. They're bound to encounter dirt, hand oils / sweat, and backpacks. Our cast vinyl adds a layer that takes that wear instead of your Deck, Switch, Legion or Ally. When it looks worn, peel it off and put the included second copy on.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Nintendo Switch Gen 1 skin fit the Switch OLED or Switch Lite?

No - the Switch OLED has a wider kickstand and a larger 7-inch screen, so the dimensions don't match. The Switch Lite is a smaller device with fixed Joy-Cons and no kickstand, which is a completely different chassis. Our skins are cut for each model specifically, so check the listing matches your unit before ordering.

Does the Nintendo Switch skin sticker for the original Switch fit the Switch Lite or Switch OLED?

No - the Switch Lite and Switch OLED have different chassis dimensions and won't share the same skin. The Switch Lite is a smaller device with fixed Joy-Cons and no kickstand. The Switch OLED has a larger 7-inch screen and a wider kickstand. Each console has its own skin cut specifically for its chassis.

Do switch one skins from M2 fit both the original HAC-001 and the V2 model?

Yes - the HAC-001 and the HAC-001(-01) (the V2 released in 2019) share identical external dimensions, Joy-Con rail positions, kickstand, and USB-C port location. The only differences between them are internal - a revised processor and better battery life. Our skins fit both without modification.

Does the Nintendo Switch skin for the original model fit the V2 (HAC-001(-01)) released in 2019?

Yes, the V2 is externally identical to the original Switch. Same dimensions, same Joy-Con rail positions, same kickstand, same USB-C port location. The differences are all internal (updated processor, better battery life), so our skins fit both without modification. If your Switch was released after August 2019, it's almost certainly the V2 - and the same skin fits.

What does the Nintendo Switch vinyl wrap from M2 cover on the console?

Our Nintendo Switch skin covers the full handheld unit - the front face, rear shell, and the console body between the Joy-Con rails. The Joy-Con controllers themselves are a separate skinnable unit (not included in this kit). We cut around the USB-C port on the bottom edge, the kickstand on the back, and the Joy-Con rail contact points so everything stays accessible and functional.

What is your return and exchange policy?

Want a different design, finish, or device? Exchange it - there's no restocking fee on an exchange. Email info@m2skins.com to start, and don't ship anything back before we confirm it.

Returns and exchanges work the same way: you have 30 days from delivery, the skin has to be unused and on its original backing and packaging, and return shipping plus any original shipping charges are yours (shipping isn't refundable). The one difference - a refund carries a 20% restocking fee, an exchange doesn't.

If your order arrives damaged or defective, that's on us - no restocking fee and we cover return shipping. Email photos of the skin and the packaging (every order ships insured) so we can make it right.

Custom skins, gift cards, and final-sale items can't be returned. Full details are on our refund policy page.

Can M2 Skins vinyl skins be removed later?

Yes, our vinyl is designed to come off when you want a change. Take your time at the corners and edges, and the skin should lift in one piece for most installs. Removability is part of why we ship multiple copies - peel one off, refresh with the next.

Does the skin for the Nintendo Switch cover the kickstand on the back?

Yes - the rear skin covers the built-in kickstand. It's part of the back surface, so our design accounts for it. The microSD card slot sits under the kickstand and stays accessible - the skin doesn't block it.

Will Nintendo Switch skins designed for the original model fit the Switch Lite or Switch OLED?

No, all three are different chassis. The Switch Lite is smaller and has fixed Joy-Cons with no kickstand; the Switch OLED has a larger 7-inch screen and a wider kickstand. Neither is skin-compatible with the original HAC-001. Each model has its own dedicated listing, so confirm you're matching the exact Switch variant you own.

Does the Nintendo Switch skin for the original HAC-001 also fit the HAC-001(-01) V2 model?

Yes - our Nintendo Switch skins fit both the original HAC-001 and the HAC-001(-01) released in August 2019. The two models share identical external dimensions, Joy-Con rail positions, kickstand placement, and USB-C port location. The V2's differences are all internal - a revised chip and better battery life - so the skin fit is the same.

What is a Nintendo Switch vinyl skin and how does it differ from a case?

A Nintendo Switch vinyl skin is a thin cut vinyl layer that covers the console body - wrapping the front, back, and sides to change the look and add scratch and scuff resistance. It's not a case, so it adds no bulk and keeps the console pocketable. If you want protection against drops and hard impacts, pair a skin with a case - the two work well together.

Does M2 make stickers, decals, or wraps for the Nintendo Switch Gen 1?

Our skins for the Nintendo Switch Gen 1 cover the same intent as stickers, decals, or wraps - they're all thin vinyl finishes. We use 'skin' as the product name. The Essentials Kit covers the body and controllers; the Pro Kit adds a wrap for the Nintendo Switch Dock - pick whichever coverage fits the setup you want to skin.

Does M2 Skins offer free US shipping?

Yes, US orders over $65 ship free at checkout. Standard shipping rates apply below that threshold. International buyers receive an equivalent credit above 65$.

How long does it typically take to install an M2 Skins vinyl skin?

Install time varies by device and your experience with vinyl - some pieces take a few minutes, multi-component kits take longer. The install video for each product walks through the technique, and our designs are cut to that specific method. Start with the video before you begin, even if you've installed skins before.
