Material guide

Material picks for MacBooks

MacBooks reward material choices aligned with the machine's industrial design — clean, understated, metallic.

Satin Aluminum and Brushed Aluminum sit most naturally on MacBook chassis, reading as alternate finishes rather than decorations. Matte Black and Satin White transform the look more dramatically while keeping the clean geometry intact.

For character, Prism and Frosty Vanilla add color-shift effects that pair well with premium MacBook positioning. Black Carbon Fiber shifts the feel toward performance aesthetic if that fits your use.

Satin materials show fewer fingerprints than matte — worth noting on a device you handle daily.

Installing skins on a MacBook

MacBooks have very clean geometry — one of the more forgiving laptop categories to install. The install guide marks tack points where you align the skin first.

Start by aligning the lid using tack points — the Apple logo cutout is usually the primary reference. Work the squeegee outward from those points. The bottom panel comes next, with rubber feet cutouts as the alignment reference.

Room temperature around 70°F works best. Every MacBook model we cover has a dedicated install video posted online.

Frequently asked about Apple MacBook Laptop Skins

How long does it take to install a laptop skin?

Most installs take 20–40 minutes for a careful first-timer. The install video for your specific model walks through each panel. We include two skins per order, so if the first install doesn't go as planned, you have a second to try again.

What if the skin doesn't fit my laptop?

Every template is designed on the actual device before release, so fit issues are rare. If something's off, reach out — we'll offer install help or process a return on unused, non-custom orders. Check the install guide for cutout reference before installing if you're unsure.

Will the skin work on older MacBook Pros with Touch Bar?

Yes. Older MacBook Pro templates with Touch Bar are included where we cover them. The skin covers the lid and bottom panels — it doesn't cover the Touch Bar itself, so the display and touch input work exactly as before.

Can I remove the skin later?

Our skins are designed to peel off with heat from a hair dryer. Apply gentle heat to the edge, lift slowly, and the skin should come up without leaving residue. Always test with low heat first on textured or painted chassis.

Does the skin cover the Apple logo on the lid?

Most MacBook templates cut around the Apple logo so it stays visible. Some designs cover it fully for a cleaner look. The product page for each model shows which option is available.
